Born in Texas, reared in Kansas City, Sallie Day Mogerman grew up in an artistic family. Both her sisters are artists, as Sallie began drawing at an early age. After graduating cum laude from Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Missouri, she began her portrait studies with well-known Kansas City illustrator and portrait painter, Harry Fredman. She studied with Mr. Fredman for nine years until his retirement in 1995. Since that time, she has traveled to Florence and Rome, studying works of the masters. Sallie works in oils and graphite at her studio in The Foundry Art Centre in Saint Charles, Missouri. She works from both life and photographic sittings. Among her clientele are educators, businessmen, attorneys, physicians, their spouses and children. She is a member of the Saint Louis Artists’ Guild, the American Society of Portrait Artists, The Portrait Institute, Oil Painters of America, and the Lake Saint Louis Artists. Her works hang in private schools, hospitals, regional museums and corporate offices, as well as in private homes.
