I hand carve decorative objects in classic Norwegian styles.
About Our Art
Growing up in Wisconsin’s north woods in a community with a large Scandinavian presence, I came to appreciate the beauty of wood and the Norwegian style decoration.
After many years of carving fish and birds, I changed my focus to making and decorating objects in the Norwegian style. Classes from Philip Odden and Else Bigton got me started in traditional Norwegian decorative carving. I’ve since learned to design my own patterns in the classical acanthus style as well as the most traditional dragon style.
Learning to make objects as they have been made for 1000 years and to decorate them in traditional styles allows me to share the rich history of the objects and styles of decoration with others.
