Fort Worth Public Art Master Plan

The City of Fort Worth seeks to engage the services of an experienced public art administrative consultant or consultant team to update the Fort Worth Public Art Master Plan of 2003, as recommended in the Fort Worth Cultural Plan of 2014.

All submission materials must be delivered as hard copies by 5:00 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2016

St. Joseph Sculpture Walk  

The Allied Arts Council and the City of Saint Joseph, Missouri seek sculptures to be placed in Downtown Saint Joseph. Regional, national, and international sculpture artists are invited to submit work for this one-year sculpture exhibition scheduled from June 2016-May 2017. Selected sculptures/sculptors will receive a $500 honorarium and all sculptures selected will be competing for up to $13,000 in cash prize awards.

Additionally, The Allied Arts Council will purchase a sculpture to become a permanent part of Saint Joseph’s public art collection. Only pieces priced $15,000 or less will be considered for purchase. The Allied Arts Council will receive a 25% commission on any sculpture sold and on any commissioned sculptures.

Prix Elysee Photography 

The Prix Elysée is open to promising photographers or artists using photography, regardless of nationality, who have already enjoyed their first exhibitions and publications. Photographers must be recommended by a reputed professional in the fields of photography, contemporary art, cinema, fashion, journalism or publishing. There is no imposed theme or preference for any particular photographic genre or technique.

The Musée de l’Elysée will select eight nominees upon their entry portfolios. Each will receive a contribution of CHF5’000 towards the initial presentation of an original and new project in the nominees’ book, published for the occasion. This book will accompany the nominees’ complete portfolios in the final consideration before the jury of experts. The winner will receive CHF80’000 to be divided between the completion of the proposed project and the publication of the accompanying book within one year. A curator from the Musée de l’Elysée will advise the winner throughout this process. Both the project and book will be presented at one of the Museum’s most important events, the Nuit des images. The nominees’ and the winner’s books will be printed by one of the Sandoz Family Foundation printing companies.

KC Fringe Festival Applications Open

 

Application Deadline: March 15, 2016 12:00pm KC Fringe Festival Dates: July 21 – 31, 2016 KC Fringe Festival Artist applications are now open!

This year’s KC Fringe Festival will run July 21-31 and applications to participate in it as an artist are now available on their website, kcfringe.org! Remember that the festival awards slots on a first-come, first-served basis, so get your application in early!

 Steven’s Point Call for Outdoor Sculpture 

Stevens Point Sculpture Park is accepting submissions of sculpture work for their seventh annual, three-year outdoor sculpture exhibition.

The Sculpture Park will consider a wide variety of work, including site specific work, ephemeral and/or permanent work, work in a variety of scales, art with a performance component, proposed not yet built projects, etc. Materials and scale must be appropriate for an outdoor environmental location.

Applications Due: February 1, 2016

Award: $800 for 3 year loan of the work

Local Honey Album Release

MudStomp Records will release the new album, Local Honey, by the St. Joseph-based acoustic country roots band Under the Big Oak Tree on Friday, January 22nd.

Following the success of the band’s 2014 self-titled debut – which made multiple year-end- best lists and was praised as “one of the most lush, beautiful records to come out of the local scene” (St. Joe Live) – Local Honey features 11 new, original songs recorded at Westend Studios in Kansas City. Special guests on the recording include Sam Stephan (Dreamgirl), Kyle Dahlquist (The Hardship Letters), and Jason Riley (Maria the Mexican).

CD release concerts will be held in St. Joseph [Fri., Jan. 22nd, 7-9pm, at the Paradox Theatre (107 S. 6th St.)], Kansas City [Fri., Jan. 29th, 7-9pm at the Uptown Arts Bar (3611 Broadway)], and Lawrence [Fri. Feb. 5th, 6-9pm at Replay Lounge (946 Massechusetts)]. Cover is $5, and the distinctive banjo-wielding singer/songwriter Kelly Hunt will open the St. Joe and KC shows, Signal Ridge will open in Lawrence.
