About Our Art
JoAnna Jackson is a mixed-media artist working primarily in fiber, paper and paint. Her creative foundation began early with fiber arts, and over time her practice has expanded to include acrylic painting on canvas, handmade books, embroidery, and traditional paper marbling. She often combines these disciplines, using her own hand-dyed fabrics and marbled papers in her bookmaking and textile work. Her current focus explores the intersection of materials- thread, paper and canvas-as a means of expression and tactile storytelling.
Her work has been exhibited at Damselfly Gallery in Midway, KY, and the Shelbyville Art Gallery in Shelbyville, KY. She was previously commissioned by Habitat by Humanity in Atlanta, GA.
JoAnna teaches approximately 30 workshops each year, offering instruction in bookbinding, embroidery and paper marbling. She teaches throughout the St. Louis and St. Charles areas, including monthly sessions in her home studio.
