About Our Art
Meike has always been an artist. As a child she taught herself how to construct cloth dolls, leather purses, and knit sweaters. Years later, after a teaching career and raising two sons, she has reimmersed herself in the art world she loves. Her favorite medium is acrylic paint combined with texture elements.
Meike’s style has been strongly influenced by her mentor, and friend, Dutch painter, Frits van Eeden. Taking the input from Eeden and melding it with the experience gained from attending the 2013 and 2014 Intensive Study Seminars in Taos, New Mexico, and other great workshops, Meike has developed her own unique style full of bright colors and texture.
Appreciation for her art has led to multiple features in newspapers and magazines (cover of Springfield Lifestyle Magazine) as far reaching as Germany and South Korea. Her paintings have been shown in galleries, juried art shows and festivals, and public spaces like Hospitals and the Airport in Springfield, Missouri and the Melbourne, Florida International Airport, where she received numerous awards and mentions. Her growing recognition has led to the acquisition of many of her pieces by private collectors in the USA, Canada, Germany and Ecuador.
Meike regularly donates her artwork for charitable auctions and other causes the benefit children and women. For more of Meike’s paintings, please visit: www.meikeaton.com.
