About Our Art

I have always been fascinated by design, sculpture and glass working. As a graduate of Washington University School of Fine Arts, I was encouraged to nurture and develop those interests. Working separately in all three areas eventually led to a natural confluence – the result was jewelry design.

Lampwork started as a hobby. Intrigued by glass and its endless possibilities, I took a lampworking class and was completely hooked. It wasn’t long before I had a home studio and was making beads in my free time. The years of studying and working as a graphic artist influenced my bead designs with unique color combinations and surface patterns.

While creating my jewelry lines, I experimented with other materials, incorporating semi-precious stones, sterling silver, brilliant cut crystals and freshwater pearls. Extending the materials beyond glass pushed the jewelry designs in new directions. The materials feel very much of the earth.

Many of the pieces consist of brilliant hues and faceted stones, but none are so cut and polished that they lose their raw origins. I am drawn to vibrant colors, and seek to combine color and texture in new ways.

All my jewelry features quality materials and workmanship. Each piece is hand fabricated, so all are truly unique and made with great care. I may make the same design twice, but there are always subtle differences. Even though my jewelry is glass it is very durable, meant to be worn and enjoyed everyday. These pieces are not fragile and do not need special attention.

To me, jewelry is a very personal thing even though it is there for all the world to see. Jewelry reflects much about a person, it speaks to your sense of design and spirit of individuality. It should complement not overwhelm or overshadow one. My customers tell me how much they enjoy owning and wearing my jewelry – it is distinctive yet easy to wear.

Thanks for looking at my jewelry collection! I hope you too find something that speaks to your sense of style.
