Tips from Peggy

Put Yourself Out There on the BOMH Web Site Peggy King, Bookkeeper and Web Administrator
Both Juried Members AND General Members have the ability to post a profile picture on the member directories that can be viewed by all who visit the BOMH site. So why isn’t that ability being fully utilized by the members? Well, I really think most members know this, at least vaguely, but haven’t explored it fully, are unsure about digging in and doing it, or just think it will take too much time they’d rather spend creating.
For General Members, it’s easy for you to post a profile pic. It can be a picture of yourself, your work, or even your logo. When you log on to your BOMH account, click on your name in the left sidebar under that circle that should be displaying your, um, profile picture. Click the “Change Pic” link and follow the directions to upload a photo from your computer. PRESTO! There’s your profile picture above your name in the left sidebar. See how easy that was?
Juried Members Have Even More Options
Juried Members, of course, have their own BOMH web page. Once you log in to the BOMH web site, you will find an option in the left sidebar that allows you to “Edit My Page”. Your Juried Member page offers you many options to promote yourself and your work. Here is where you can change your profile picture by clicking on the link of the same name. Enter your business website address and whatever contact information you want to make public. Use the “Awards and Honors” field to brag on yourself a bit. Some fields allow you to indicate who can see the information you enter – you’re in control. Click on the two other tabs “About Our Art” and “About Our Business” and enter even more information – maybe your Artist Statement and/or Artist Bio, or a schedule of your upcoming shows.
Juried Members are able to post virtually unlimited photos of their work, process, events, etc. You can even set up multiple photo albums of different types of work, for instance. Or post a video of you creating in your studio. All this happens under the “Media” icon.
If you want to change the picture in the banner across the top of your Juried Member page (we’ve put a nice Monet there are a place holder) you can do that too. Find the clickable icon in the lower right corner of the banner picture. Click it then follow the directions to upload your own photo from your computer. Once you’re done updating your page, you can click the “View” link to see what your page will look like to a visitor looking you up.
We know by experience that the Best of Missouri Hands website is a major resource for galleries and art shows looking for new talent. Why not put yourself out there? If you need inspiration, check out what some of your fellow members’ have posted and then get ‘er done.
