The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri and ASL Pewter invite you to attend a pewter demonstration. This is a free demonstration open to all ages led by the owners of ASL Pewter, Tom and Patricia Hooper, of Ste. Genevieve.
Saturday, July 18th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
During this “Day of Edutainment” (education and entertainment), the Hoopers will walk guests through the process of creating beautiful pewter goods from molds old and new. This demonstration will include all the stages of making pewter pieces, sans the molten hot metal. Guests will also be able to see the pewter molds (handmade and vintage), engage Patricia and Tom in a Q & A, and be able to take part in a pewter history lesson from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. In addition, pewter items will also be on sale.
Tom and Patricia Hooper established ASL Foundry in 1995 in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. The business has expanded over time making pewter tableware, household, personal items, and original designs. They make their own molds as well as use historic molds to create these old of-a-kind pieces. By using traditional processes they provide functional yet decorative pewterware.
