Thank you to everyone who came out to First Friday last week, we hope you had as good a time as we did!! The Arts Council’s competitive People’s Choice Award goes to a favorite local artist, Melissa Whitaker for her most recent showing from her body of work focusing on the Beatles – “Fab Four.” Congratulations Melissa! Life is very short, so head to the Arts Council to see these paintings as they are meant to be – in person!

“Fab Four” is among many excellent pieces that represent the Visual Arts Cooperative. When you visit us during the month of March, you will get the opportunity to see multiple pieces of work created by most of the members of the Co-op!

EPIC is hosting the third annual Off the Wall Live Auction and art Benefit on April 22nd, 2016 and we are hoping you will consider donating a piece of artwork for this event. We plan to include a live auction, a silent auction and sales of select items. The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the prevention of youth substance abuse. Donated artwork can be in any form as long as we can easily display it on a table. We do have a few spaces for larger pieces but no bigger than 3’ by 6’ and no greater than 150 pounds.

The artwork you donate to EPIC will be used to raise funds for our organization and may be displayed online, in local media, at the Off the Wall event, or in other ways EPIC deems appropriate to promote the event. A few items will be selected for the live auction and we would like to include pictures of those items in media advertising the event. If you decide to donate a piece, please provide us with a brief biography of yourself along with a suggested value of the art and your permission to publicize the information in our flyer, on our website and on Facebook. Each donor will receive two free tickets to the event. In an effort to promote the arts and thank our donating artists, this year, for the first time, EPIC has secured space at Gallery 109 (109 North Main Street) to host a First Friday reception on Friday, April 1st. Select artists will be able to bring the piece they are donating for Off the Wall as well as one additional piece they have available for private sale. We will accept artwork any time prior to March 22nd, 2016. Whether or not you decide to donate artwork we hope you will join us April 22nd at The Concourse Building, 429 North Broadview, Cape Girardeau, MO for a lively evening of fun and fine art! Tickets will be $20.00 and will include admission to the live auction, music and heavy hors d’oevres. VIPs including sponsors and donating artists are all invited to an early preview of the artwork at 6:00pm. Doors open for all at 6:30pm.

To find out more about our organization, please visit facebook.com/epicprevention or www.epicprevention.org. you in advance for your consideration of donating a piece of art to a worthy cause!
