The ArtSmart Conference 2014 returns to Springfield. Join us at the University Plaza Hotel for a frolicking weekend packed with education, inspiration, friendship, and just plain fun.

You’ve got a talent. You start with the simplest, most basic raw materials, a little inspiration, and a lot of talent and create something splendid, something brand new, something that didn’t exist before.

And now, you’re at a crossroads. Maybe you’re a beginner, or maybe you’re a seasoned veteran. Maybe you dabble in a hundred different things and can’t seem to find the right medium. Maybe you’ve gotten yourself in a creative rut and it seems like you’re doing the same thing over and over again.

Conference Information

Keynote speaker Marc Duke has over 30 years in the arts and crafts world and has his finger on the pulse of the industry through his business, Art-Linx. He will give us strategies for coping with this slow economy and explore various alternatives for sales, from using the internet to wholesaling to art festivals together with some non-traditional approaches.

Kim Carr will lead us through Facebook and Social Media, showing us how to generate sales and build a customer base by using these free tools and an internet connection.

Attend our Wholesale Panel Discussion and learn how to cut down on your show schedule and still maintain your income.

Wondering about developing a portfolio? Artists and gallery owners will help you get where you want to be.

Whether you do art shows or gallery exhibits, you will benefit from our Mock Jury, where your images will be critiqued (anonymously, of course) by actual art show jurors.

The Artisan Showcase will again be open for art sales to the public. Volunteers will staff the exhibit room while you are attending the sessions. In previous years, some artists have paid for their entire conference through their sales.

If you have a partner or spouse that might want to come but is not interested in the sessions, we have provisions for that also, just check the application for options.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of The Best of Missouri Hands ArtSmart Conference is the fellowship and networking that has become the trademark of our organization. In an occupation that often demands solitary work, ArtSmart provides a much needed recharge of your creative spirit. You should join us!

All activities, with the exception of the Thursday evening pre-conference activity and the Artisan Showcase fee, are included in registration. Registration includes Friday Evening reception, Saturday lunch and the Saturday evening banquet. Breakfast is included on Saturday and Sunday for guests who stay at the hotel. Registrants are invited to bring guests to the Friday Evening reception, additional activities require that guests purchase and present tickets to participate.
