Best of Missouri Hands Annual Meeting with Guest Speaker Chris Dahlquist

The Best of Missouri Hands will host its Annual Meeting on Saturday April 17th, live on ZOOM, starting at 10:00 am. This meeting is open to ALL our members and is free to attend. The meeting should wrap up by 1:00We will start with a quick recap of how the organization is doing financially, things we have accomplished and how we plan to move into the future. We will also recognize the 2021 Professional Development Grant winners and our newest juried artists from Summer 2020 and Winter 2021.

Stories, Relationships, & Magic: Communicating About Your ArtworkIn this online workshop Dahlquist will lead artists through discussions and interactive exercises, to develop the building blocks necessary to communicate their story in a variety of circumstances: from artist statements, grant applications, and gallery proposals; to press opportunities, social media, and one-on-one interactions. This workshop is appropriate for any stage of an artistic career and will give artists the tools (and magic) they can return to again and again.

Bio
Since 1998, Kansas City based visual artist Chris Dahlquist has exhibited extensively throughout the United States. Committed to the accessibility of art, Dahlquist exhibits in a variety of traditional and non-traditional settings and creates large-scale public installations allowing audiences to encounter and interact with her photographic objects in unexpected ways.Dahlquist also lends her passionate pragmatism to a community practice, helping artists develop sustainable careers. Bringing personal experience, stories from hundreds of artists she has worked with, and a guiding principle that the artist must be at the center of a strong arts ecosystem, Dahlquist works with municipalities, organizations, and businesses to develop strategies, programs, and policy to support individual artists.

Learn a framework on which to build an authentic marketing, public relations, and digital strategy that is as unique as your artwork. Identify who it is that needs to know about your artwork, where they are, and develop a plan to reach them that feels right to you. This online workshop will explore how getting the word out about your artwork can be a fun and creative extension of your art practice.
