BOMH 2021 Professional Development Grant

Application Deadline: February 15, 2021

I’ve heard numerous ways to describe the effects of 2020 on artists.  The ones that come to my mind are exhaustion, frustration, lack of motivation, creativity block.  What better way to break through those barriers than to explore a new facet of your art?  Sometimes that requires funds that, just like inspiration, may be in short supply these days.

Best of Missouri Hands has a solution!  The Best of Missouri Hands offers a $500 Annual Professional Development Grant. The grant is awarded to one member each year and is available to both General and Juried Members. The purpose of the grant is to promote continuing education by providing additional resources to advance the study of a member’s chosen artistic medium(s).

If you are interested in applying for the grant, you should be thinking about what you would like to do with it.  Is there an on-line workshop you want to take?  Do you need to purchase a new piece of equipment or supplies that will help you open up a new path for your art?  How about taking classes in marketing and branding your art? Learn how to move into the new age of digital communications brought on by the need to socially distance?

There are many options open to you. What have you wanted to do with your art that has been out of your reach – something that will open doors for you or allow you to become more marketable?  What would get you back in the groove and jump-start your motivation?

The grant application will ask you to explain in detail how you would use the grant funds, how your art would be advanced through the use of the grant, what BOMH activities you have participated in, and how you plan to give back to BOMH if you are the grant recipient.  Applications will be reviewed by the Professional Development Grant committee.  The grant will be announced at the Annual Membership Meeting in the spring of 2021.

The grant funds will be paid to the winner after completion of the activities for which the grant was awarded, and after the winner has reported back to the BOMH membership via an article written for the BOMH newsletter.
