BOMH Presidents Letter – Angela Walleman – Summer 2017

Summer is upon us and once again, your BOMH Newsletter is packed with articles, opportunities, and news from your fellow members! On behalf of the Board of Directors, I thank you for your membership and for your participation in the BOMH activities. You are a valued member of this wonderful organization, and I encourage you to continue sharing your work and your experience with others who may not be familiar with us.

For those who could not join us in March, we enjoyed the outstanding Membership Meeting & Professional Development workshops. Roseann Weiss, Director of the Community & Public Arts Department at the Regional Arts Commission, Cindy Lerick, former Executive Director and President of Cultural Festivals, and Carleen Johns, BOMH Juried Artist, offered their expertise and many insightful tips on successful grant writing and on applying to juried shows.

Our first Professional Development Grant was awarded to BOMH Juried Artist, Lanie Frick. Lanie accepted the award at the Membership Meeting and she inspired all of us as she shared an update on her grant project, Applying the Foundations of Design & Composition in Painting. Congratulations, Lanie!

If you would like to apply for the 2018 Professional Development Grant, please look for information on our website in the coming months.

The next BOMH Conference will be held in Columbia, Missouri. Make plans now to attend this exciting event on April 13-14, 2018. If you have an idea for a unique workshop or a frolic that you would like to teach or participate in, the planning committee welcomes you to submit your suggestions. The Conference will offer all of us the opportunity to recharge, engage and create!

I’d like to remind you that the annual election of new board members will take place in October. Have you considered serving on the board or on a committee? If so, we would love to speak with you! Please contact us to learn more about the opportunities to serve.

I hope that you enjoy your membership and activities offered by the Best of Missouri Hands and I wish you a creative and successful summer!

Sincerely,

Angela Walleman, President
