BOMH Welcomes New Board Members

Andrea Jira and Nancy McDowell recently joined the BOMH board of Directors. Andrea and Nancy filled current board vacancies. They bring a high level of professional and creative experience to the board and are a welcome addition.

Andrea Jira, Columbia MO

Born in Kansas City, residing in Columbia, Missouri, Andrea has been creating jewelry for almost two decades now. She “creates” jewelry because no one dare says that she merely “makes” it after seeing her work. Each piece has an air of classic sophistication and timelessness, while being 100 percent original. In addition to her artistic experience, she also has vast experience in sales, marketing and membership development.

Her experience includes:

  • Assistant Director of Marketing and Outreach at KBIA University of Missouri Concert Series, from 1998 to 2003 and  was the director of membership for the Columbia Chamber of Commerce from 2004 – 2009.
  • City of Columbia Cultural Affairs Commissioner, 2006-2012.
  • Board Member, Access Arts
  • Member, Columbia Art League
  • Friends of the Arts, Nelson Art Gallery
  • Former Member, Mid Missouri Tourism Council

Nancy McDowell, Sedalia, MO

Nancy was the Executive Director of Liberty Center Association for the Arts for eleven years. She retired two years ago and has been involved in the arts most of her life. Nancy credentials include:

  • Served on the Mayor’s Arts Initiative to bring artists to Sedalia to help revitalize downtown Sedalia
  • Served on the Sedalia Tourism Commission
  • Represented artists in a charette for the Missouri State Fair Museum
  • Began a program to introduce underserved children to various art forms
  • Helped bring the Best of Missouri hands Artisans to Sedalia that participated in Christmas in July Art Show
  • Currently serving as secretary on the MACAA ( Missouri Association of Community Arts Agencies) board
