First Annual Cape Light Fest, 35 Years in the Making

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO— The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, in collaboration with Cape County, is excited to announce a new holiday experience, 35 years in the making: The Cape Light Festival.
So many of us can trace our favorite memories back to the magic of the Christmas season. The vibrant, open sky with its early-onset evenings. Children, pointing and laughing in wonder and delight at colorful roadside displays. Parents, marveling and reminiscing about fond memories, hearts alight, as Christmas tunes drift through the air. Warm color and soft light saturating the atmosphere.
Things become simple again.
The meaning of the season is that everyone deserves this kind of magic. Everyone deserves to see beauty. Everyone deserves to see the light in the darkness.

Since 1987, the Cape Conservation Center has hosted the displays of area businesses, churches, and organizations on their grounds. The month-long event typically draws 35,000 unique visitors through the park to see displays. But, with no organization leading the charge, the show has seen a decline in participation and attendance, particularly given the challenges of the last few years. Which is why The Arts Council jumped at the opportunity when Cape County called us about re-booting the 35-year tradition. We want to create a winter wonderland right here in Cape Girardeau.

The Arts Council has enlisted the help of very talented artists to create unique, personalized displays in collaboration with sponsors.
So, we are asking you all to help us keep the lights on!!!! Your sponsorship of this event will bring the joy of the season to the region and make Cape Girardeau a destination for the holidays. Check out the information on the process at www.capearts.org/cape-light-show.
