Executive Director’s Letter: March 2014

So I ask you, what do you use or who do you have as an accountability partner for your art? If you don’t have anyone, perhaps now is the time to find someone who can be your art Fitbit. I know that when I have accountability partners that push me or hound me as to why I haven’t done what I said I was going to do, I do something about it. Honestly, I haven’t had one for my art in quite awhile but could sure use one. So how about picking up the phone and calling that art friend and make a deal with them that you both are going to hold each other accountable.

So what are you going to do this quarter? Are you going to attend our annual ArtSmart Conference being held this month in Springfield? It’s not too late to register and we have a great program in store for you. Maybe you have wanted to diversify your method of selling to sell to galleries…well, you are in luck because we will have a panel of gallery owners that are going to share what they look for in an artist and help you get into that gallery you have always dreamed of being in. Perhaps you have always wanted to have a professional photograph your work or have someone critique your work, again you are in luck. It’s not too late to register and we promise that you will learn a lot, meet some great folks and have a good time.

Maybe this quarter you will take the step toward becoming juried. The next opportunity is in June so that gives you plenty of time to get your photos in order and review the process that is available on our website. Speaking of juried artist, we have added eleven fabulous artists to the list. Be sure to congratulate them when you see them.
