Fiber Artist Annie Webster Creates Gourd Art
I will have three pieces in the Missouri Fiber Artists member exhibit “MoFA in the House” at the Margaret Harwell Museum in Poplar Bluff. The exhibit will feature art quilts, weavings, embroidery, sculptures, and collage. The show runs May 6 – June 25, 2023.
The piece pictured here is called “Bounty.” It is a gourd we grew in the garden a couple of years ago. We had no idea what to do with all of these gourds that took over the yard, so I stored them in the garage for a while. One dried out, I sealed them then covered the gourd in freeform crochet. I essentially created a gourd cozy, and I now believe all gourds should have one.
There will be an opening reception at the museum on Friday, May 6 from 6 – 8 PM. The Margaret Harwell Museum is located at 421 N Main St, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901. Hope to see you there!
