Introducing Our New BOMH President

Greetings from the newest Best of Missouri Hands Board President!  It is an honor to hold this position!  Let me introduce myself.  My name is Patty Muenks.  I am a full-time artist based in St. Charles.  I live with my husband, Roy, and our two cats, Alice and Dorothy.

I have been an artist all my life, often stating that when I grew up, I would be an artist.  Happy to report my dreams have come true!  I received my bachelor’s in fine arts from the University of Oregon in 1999.  My focus was ceramics, learning a variety of kiln firings, glaze chemistry, and application. I create my pottery through handbuilding techniques.

I practice many different types of art as well.  I have really gotten into art journaling (I will be offering a workshop at the beginning of next year!) over the past year and have been creating large, two-dimensional mixed media pieces on canvas.  I also love crochet, collage, card making, paper making, and book binding. My creativity also thrives in my gardens and in my kitchen!

I joined the Best of Missouri Hands in April of 2016 at a professional development meeting in Columbia.  I love what this organization has to offer and was so excited to become a member.  By September of 2017, I became a member on the Board of Directors.  I have worked actively with membership, social media, and regional events.  I am fortunate to have worked and continue to work with many amazing artists across the state.  I am honored to carry out our mission and vision of connecting, educating, and inspiring Missouri’s artists and artisans!

In closing, let me leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Henry David Thoreau, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler.”

May you be healthy and happy as we welcome the changing of the season here in Missouri!

Gratefully yours,

Patty Muenks
