About Our Art
The simple, yet fascinating and colorful details found in nature are the focus of Lori Purk’s current work. Photography has been her lifelong passion and she hopes to convey her love of the great outdoors by showing the viewer something they may not have noticed otherwise in this fast paced world. “I want you to slow down, feel like you are on the journey with me, standing beside me, seeing the same things that impress me and catch my eye. I also hope to inspire you to help protect the natural world.”
As a juried artist member of Best of Missouri Hands since 2001, Lori currently serves as a Board Member and as Membership Co-Chair. She has also served over a nine year period in various roles as Newsletter Editor, Vice President and as a Board Member for the Missouri Nature and Environmental Photographers (MoNEP). She is also a member of the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) and Art St. Louis.
Lori has been selling and sharing her work with the public at fine art and craft shows in and around the St. Louis area since 2000. Her award winning photography has been exhibited in group and solo shows at the St. Louis Artists’ Guild, William Woods University, The Foundry Art Centre, Shaw Nature Reserve and Runge and Powder Valley Conservation Nature Centers. Several of Lori’s photographs are on permanent educational display at the Great Rivers Museum in Alton, IL. Her work is also held in many private collections including the one at the Missouri Governor’s Mansion in Jefferson City. She has had some of her work published and she is represented by several art galleries.
In 2006 Lori opened her own gallery, Simpatico, an Art Gallery Co-op, in the historic artist community at Clarksville, Mo. She shows and sells her work there on weekends along with several other juried members of BOMH who work in various mediums.
