Mark Twain’s Birthday Bash – Hannibal, MO

The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum would like to pass along upcoming Museum events.  Please add to your calendars:

Mark Twain Birthday Bash Mini Events:

  1.   Tom and Becky will host an Old-fashioned Birthday Party for Mark Twain from 1:00 – 3:00.  This is a free event with old-fashioned party games, crafts, storytelling, cupcakes and punch. (free event for children, accompanied by an adult).
  2.  The Mark Twain Museum’s Annual Mustache Competition will begin at 3:00.  We will be bringing back the categories:  The Dapper Stache, Mark Twain Stache and Manliest Stache.  $5 entry per category with prizes awarded to winners of each. Hoping to get the word out ASAP so those men have time to grow their staches (:
  3. At 4:00 we will announce the winners of the Annual Masquerade Mask Competition.  We will once again offer a paper mache’ mask to those artist and artist wannabes.  They can transform the mask using any medium and all masks will be on display in the Museum Gallery Auditorium beginning on Mark Twain’s Birthday until the Birthday Bash.  Visitors to the museum can vote on their favorite for the People’s Choice and we will also have a prize for the winner of the Judge’s Choice. Hoping to get the word out ASAP so those men have time to grow their staches (:

The Mark Twain Museum will hold the Lighting Ceremony of the Museum Christmas Tree and the Boyhood Home Gardens on Saturday, November 24th.  The ceremony will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a performance by the Salvation Army Brass Band, followed by a few remarks by Mark Twain, Jim Waddell, singing of a few traditional Christmas Carols with Tom and Becky, and the illumination of the Museum properties and Christmas Tree at dusk.  Kind of the Kick-off to the Victorian Christmas.  Please join us for some old fashioned fun.

Sincerely,
