Janice Lackey won best of show in the annual Mid-Missouri Artist Members show in Warrensburg, MO for her water color scenery picture, Vista I, 2012.

Adam Long received Honorable Mention for his use of repurposed materials in the EcoArtsAwards International Art Competition (www.EcoArtsAwards.com). Adam also has work in four different exhibitions this March in the St. Louis area and in Colorado:

Andrew Signorelli, Chairman of the Board of Hope Montessori and Andrews Academy schools, was presented with his formal portrait at their annual luncheon in December at the Missouri Athletic Club. The 40″ x 30″ oil portrait was painted by Sallie Day Mogerman, artist in residence at the Foundry Art Centre in Saint Charles.  Mr. Signorelli is seated right, and Mrs. Signorelli is seated on the left. The Director of Operations, Dr. Jaime Dodd (far left) and school directors make up the remainder of the party.

Sallie’s oil portrait of Dr. Anthony Fathman, retired urological surgeon, was added to the wall of distinguished physicians of Saint Louis Urological Surgeons on December 15, 2012. The occasion was the annual office Christmas party.


Springfield artists Hue Parnell and Marla Rush Parnell each recently received awards in the Visual Artist Alliance of Springfield’s two Winter Shows exhibited at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts on the campus of Missouri State University.

In the First Winter Show, held January 12 – February 9, Hue won Honorable Mention with a raku pot entitled The Ditch. The vessel is an altered piece, 8” tall with a multi-colored metallic glaze. Marla earned the Award of Excellence for her 12” x 16” pastel painting of a small boy on a horse, entitled Giddy Up. Both Parnells were recognized at the opening reception on January 18.

At the Second Winter Show’s opening reception on February 15, Hue received the Award of Excellence for his piece entitled So You Said You Like Red. This 10” high textured raku pot glazed in bright red sold at the opening. Marla won Honorable Mention for her 10” x 8” pastel landscape of a North Carolina beach she titled Dune Shadows. The exhibition is open through March 8.

Both Hue and Marla are juried members of Best of Missouri Hands. They own and operate Parnell Studios in Springfield, MO, where they each create and teach in their respective media, clay and pastels. Their work can be found on their website at www.parnellstudios.com.

Jan’s individual art show, themed “Paintings of Buildings on the MU Campus,” is on display at the J. Otto Lottes Health Sciences Library on the campus of University of Missouri, Columbia, MO. The digital paintings will be hanging through the spring semester 2013.
