Member News: July 2014

Congratulations to Linda Green Metzler who received Third Place in Mixed Media at this year’s Augusta Plein Air Festival for the painting, “Waiting to Put Down Roots” painted at Frizella’s nursery in Defiance, MO.

 

WAVERLY HOUSE GIFTS and GALLERY is hosting “Local Identity” a juried show, which opened June 6th, at Waverly House Gifts and Gallery, Springfield, MO., will continue through July 26th.   Congratulations to the following BOMH Artists that are included in this show: Bill Decker, Alicia Farris, Deby Gilley, Nena Potts, Ann Marie Rausch, and Desiree Young.   This show includes thirty four artists in a variety of media. Alicia Farris won a Juror’s Choice Award for her painting, “The Observer” and Nena Potts won a Juror’s Choice Award for her brooch, “Queen City Scepter Brooch”.

 

Deann Rubin has work in the Clayton Fine Art Gallery and is involved with the Blooming Artists Project which runs May 30-June 22, 2014.  This project pairs student with professional artist.  She also has work in work in Shuttle, Spindle & Dyeport Magazines Spring 2014 Issue.  You can find her work under News & Inspiration on page 7.

Deann is also excited to have her work selected in the Top 5 in Project Shock Top. The winner will be announced at the Downtown Hannibal Art Fair, June 21-22, 2014.

Congratulations to Susie Tenzer who had two colored pencil drawings accepted into the Canadian Pencil Art Society’s International Exhibit.  The show runs from August 22 to September 21 in Quebec, Canada.

Kudos to Jerry Cox
Jerry was accepted in a nationwide juried show of the American Association of Woodturners annual symposium in Phoenix. His was one of only 35 pieces accepted. BOMH Juried Member Kathy Czopek Joins Art St. Louis Staff
Kathy Czopek has been appointed to the administrative team at Art Saint Louis. As Administrative Assistant, Kathy staffs the gallery and provides program support for exhibition activity. Art Saint Louis presents exhibitions year-round in a gallery/café hybrid in the historic Park Pacific Building, at 1223 Pine Street in the heart of downtown St. Louis.
Along with that exciting news, Kathy is a part of the SUMMER REGIONAL EXHIBITION AT ST. LOUIS ARTISTS’ GUILD, a watercolor painting by BOMH juried member Kathy Czopek is among 157artworks by 128 artists featured in “Summer Regional Exhibition,” at St. Louis Artists’ Guild, 2 Oak Knoll Park in St. Louis,  through August 10.

 

Juried member Marla Parnell has seven pastel paintings on exhibit in the Library Gallery of the Springfield Art Museum. The exhibit is up through August.  The museum is located at 1111 Brookside.

Deby Gilley has an exhibit opening on July 6, 2-4 pm, at the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg, KS.  Her exhibit titled “Still Voices” will feature 44 linocut and woodcut prints. The exhibit will continue through August 17.

Jewelry artist Mary Barge will be the guest jewelry artist at the Green Door Gallery in Webster Groves during July and August.

Norma Marshall will have her enameled jewelry and watercolor/pen and ink “Visual Harmony” paintings at the Equity Bank in Lee’s Summit at the 4th Friday Event.  Her paintings were on display at Powell Gardens during the month of May.

Wayne Trinklein  will be at the Indianapolis Talbot street Art Fair , as the 2013 Best of Show winner, I was honored to be the Featured Artist this year. Extra kudos that he  got a great TV interview to speak on his work and the show.

Congratulations to Janis Burgin who was a featured artist in the City Magazine in Jefferson City. March April Issue 2014 for her oil paintings as the teaching artist.

Debi Pickler has a busy summer; she will be demonstrating glass fusing jewelry and oil painting at the State Fair August 11-15 in Sedalia 2014.  She also has art opening at the following locations:
·The Senses finalist, Linus Art Gallery (Online Gallery)·All Women Competition, 7th place overall catagory, Light, Space, Time Gallery (Online Gallery)·Art Comes Alive Exhibiting artist(Cincinnati Ohio)·Creative Quarterly 36 exhibiting artist (winning artist and will be featured in their fall magazine)Debi also received an Honorable Mention in the 3 x 3, The Magazine of Contemporary Illustration!

Kudos to Carolyn Wallace, her work was accepted and on display in the Missouri Watercolor International 2014.  Her work titled Marbles 1 was the artwork accepted into this event which will be held at the National Winston Churchill Museum on the Westminster campus in Fulton, MO.  Along with her work in Fulton, her work was accepted on display in Watercolor USA, a prestigious juried show held at the Springfield Art Museum.  Three Gondoliers is the artwork currently on display in this show.

Peggy King’s dichroic fused glass series “Jazz Seasons” was accepted along with 43 other art works by glass artists in the United States to be part of the Contemporary Glass Society’s Exhibit ‘Out of Town’ – Open USA: 44 American Glass Artists.  The show was launched on  June 21, 2014, and can be viewed at http://cgs.org.uk/exhibitions/out-town-open-usa-44-american-glass-artists.   Peggy sends a shout out to her photographer, Don Casper, who managed to make this piece come alive in 2D.

Maria Gianino buys and sell vintage and estate jewelry as well as art and jewelry appraisals.  Maria is looking for a jewelry artist/designer/bench jeweler who would be interested in doing small repairs on vintage and estate fine jewelry on an as needed basis, pick up and drop off would be at her office in Webster Groves.  She also has space available to rent by the month for a jewelry designer or bench jeweler.
