All Call For Volunteers

Best of Missouri Hands has plans in the works to put on events in YOUR part of the state. We have ideas for workshops, shows, and exhibits and we plan to work with local arts groups to bring these ideas to fruition.

The one key to making this happen is you. We need your involvement. We need your ideas, we need your knowledge.

ARTstravaganza began in St. Louis as a home show. In early 2001, Kathleen Weltzin and Tom Lawless had discussed the idea of moving the show to the St. Louis Artists’ Guild. They pitched it to BOMH members at ArtSmart that March. The necessary money to hold the facility was collected at the conference and the rest is history.

For years, we have wanted to start a similar show in other areas of the state but it just hasn’t come to fruition…. yet. All we need to get started is a few volunteers and a venue. What Best of Missouri Hands can offer is a certain amount of experience and expertise, but most importantly, the power of networking.

But a BOMH event doesn’t have to be a show. We were very pleased to have been invited to display artwork in the PWArchitects window in Columbia last month. Perhaps you know of a restaurant or other public space that has rotating displays of artwork.

What about workshops? Whether it’s 2 hours or two days, Best of Missouri Hands would be happy to help facilitate. Kim Carr’s presentation on Social Media at ArtSmart got rave reviews and we are in discussions now about Kim taking it on the road.

The Mock Jury Image Critique and Friday Night Frolics are other sessions from this year’s ArtSmart that would be ideal to put on in your backyard. All we need is a backyard and YOU!

Best of Missouri Hands depends on a network of committed volunteers. We need volunteers at all levels, from Committee members to Board members. The level of commitment varies according to the time available and the calendar, but as little as two hours a week can make a difference.

Best of Missouri Hands is a wonderful organization that has made a difference and has literally changed people’s lives. Businesses have been built, families have been raised, lasting friendships have formed, all because Best of Missouri Hands was there. And because people like you got involved.

Got an idea? Want to help? Give us a shout!
