Faith Bemiss, a Sedalia fine art photographer and artist and juried member of Best of Missouri Hands, had a one person exhibit called “Into a New Era,” at the Liberty Center Association for the Arts (LCAA), September 1-29, in Sedalia.

Bemiss, also a member of Mid-Missouri Artists, Warrensburg, and President of the Sedalia Visual Art Association, exhibited 32 pieces showing a progression of her earlier works made with professional color slide film, to a sampling of untouched digital images, to digitally altered, enhanced and layered photos. She also showed her one-of-a-kind monotype prints and pastel paintings. An artists reception was held Thursday September 13 at the LCAA.

“The Dome of Jesse Hall” is one of Jan L. Coffman’s paintings that she calls contemporary realism as she paints with digital bushes and sketching tools. Her art show at Missouri University’s Ellis Library in the Bookmark Café, Columbia, MO, contains 16 of her paintings of the campus and nature settings. This show will be open until  end of the semester in December 2012.

“Basket of Wool Sitting in the Window” is one of several digital paintings created by Jan L. Coffman after visiting Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site in IL. The pictures from this series will be displayed at Parkade Center in Columbia, MO, through the first week of January 2013.

Debby Gilley’s linocut titled “Snap, Fresh” was selected to the 2012 MOAK Exhibit at the Springfield Art Museum. The show opens November 16 and runs through January 8

Ange Brame has been entering national competitions with success.

 

Three of her pieces were exhibited at the Walnut Gallery in Gasdsen AL.  Angel’s mugs, Coffee in Fall, Finally,  and Who Knew, were part of the national  show,  titled Mug Extravaganza.

Teapot “Morning Storm” is headed to Cape Fear, NC for a national competition of functional and non-functional work. Image Teapots “Cherry on Top” and “Rainfall” will be headed to Baltimore Clayworks for the 100 Teapots VI in Baltimore, MD in January. This national competition had over 300 entries from 80 artists.

Allison Norfleet Bruenger won “Award of Recognition” at the 2012 Mosaics Festival of the Arts in St. Charles MO. She is also now represented by Bluestem Missouri Craft Gallery in Columbia.  She also was awarded the Award of Mastery in Three Dimension at this fall’s Art Fair at Queeny Park 2012.

Shirley Nachtrieb has been very busy!  She shares the following info:

  • She continues working on a series of “Sunflower Collages”. Up to five in the series now.
  • New wall display at Framations Art Gallery, 218 N. Main Street, St. Charles, MO
  • Teaching a workshop November 30 & December 1 at the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre in St. Peters, MO, Watercolor Winterscape.”
  • Teaching weekly fall classes at the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre, Oasis O”Fallon Senior Center, and St. Charles Community Collage evening watercolor classes
  • Display at the Bella Arts Festival in St. Peters MO October 13, 2012.
  • Recently received a commission to design a painting for a mural for a Casino in Arizona.
  • Have new work displayed at Miss Aimee B’s Tearoom in St. Charles, MO
  • New work in the gift shop at the Foundry Art Centre, St. Charles
  • New work displayed in the display case at St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre.
  • And last but not least, her work is represented in the new Artistic Touch 5 book by Chris Unwin.

Images of “Mike” Ochonicky’s scrimshaw were projected in Times Square in New York City during July as part of the Artists Wanted Project. “Mike” was commissioned by the Cincinnati Jazz Festival to create commemorative pieces for each performer at the 20th Anniversary celebration in August. She also was awarded Best of Other Media at the Cedarhurst Craft Fair in September.

Corporate Member Excelsior Springs Cultural Guild shares the following:

The Excelsior Springs Area Cultural Guild will host a “Treasures and Traditions Homes Tour”, Saturday and Sunday, December 1 & 2.  The times for both days are 1 pm – 5 pm.

Some of the traditions and treasures featured on the homes tour are, a hand-made beautiful oak sleigh, a dozen lighted moving animals, nativities, teddy bears, antique toys, old fashioned Santa Clauses, and in the tradition of Queen Victoria, a Christmas tree suspended upside down from the ceiling.  Each home will also have many special ornaments and decorations that have been collected through the years.

Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased online at www.esculturalguild.com, at the Hall of Waters located at 201 E Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO., or from the home owners.
