Open Juried Competition – Fresh Gallery – Springfield, MO

Fresh Gallery is thrilled to announce the Open Juried Show Competition. This is a juried competition opened to all artists 18 years of age and older in the region. Each artist may submit up to two entries in oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, pastels, photography, textiles, ceramics, wood, sculpture or jewelry. Works submitted would have been created in the last three years and be originals, so that all works on display are “Fresh!”

Along with an opportunity to display work in one of the area’s leading art galleries, prizes will be awarded. Best of Show will receive a cash award, as well as a Featured Artist exhibit opportunity in Fresh Gallery in 2017. The awards will be given out during the First Friday Art Walk festivities in April, along with a reception.

Any works to be considered for the competition must be delivered to the gallery, located at 400 W Walnut Street in downtown Springfield. The delivery dates are Friday, March 25th and Saturday, March 26th. Business hours are 11am until 6pm on both days. Any pieces not accepted will need to be picked up on Tuesday, March 29th. The Exhibit will run from Friday, April 1st until Thursday, April 28th.

This is a wonderful opportunity to have works displayed in a gallery setting and meet other artists in the area. Applications are available in the gallery.

Fresh Gallery is also proud to be able to brag about the extra events our members participate in across the state.

Fifty visual artists were asked to interpret the music, musicians and moods during practices and a performance of the Springfield Symphony. Members Marian Chamberlain, Janine Helton, Alicia Farris, Ted Thurman, Alan O’Neal, and Dennis Lamkins were honored to be invited to sketch, paint and photograph the musicians in all of their glory. The resulting exhibit has been titled, “Music to My Eyes.” This is a collaborative exhibit between the region’s visual artists and the Springfield Symphony.   The works produced will be available for viewing at Maschino’s during March and April.

The results from the members’ adventure are spectacular. They captured the movement and beauty of the musicians in a way that makes the viewer feel the music and the mood of the performers. It is clear that the artists are masters of their craft and have done the music world justice in their visual interpretations of sound.
