Photographing nature, and wildflowers in particular, is both a fun and sometimes a challenging endeavor. The fun part is capturing bright and colorful subject matter and having the opportunity to see the world up close and very personal. The challenge is getting sharp and in focus photographs. Garry McMichael is going to show you a series of techniques as well as dozens of tips and tricks that make it possible to take great nature photos time after time. Fancy equipment is not necessary. Whether you are shooting a point and shoot camera or a DSLR this class is for you. This half-day workshop at the Audubon Center in West Alton, MO will start with a 90 minute PowerPoint presentation where you will learn the different ways to set your camera, use the aperture and shutter speeds to get different effects, enhance the mood and control sharpness. You’ll learn how to take advantage of the natural light to make your photographs more interesting. We’ll talk about tripods and filters and using small reflectors to improve your photography. After the presentation we’ll go outside and spend the rest of the afternoon taking photographs of wild flowers and natural things in the area. Everyone will get plenty of one-on-one instruction with Garry using your camera in an outdoors situation.
