PRESIDENTS LETTER

Fall 2022

October brings changes all around us here in Missouri, witnessed in the colorful array of the foliage as days get shorter while leading us into crisp nights. Autumn is here, even when we still have some days in the 80s!

I find this time of year brings contemplative moments for me.  I notice the drying garden beds, the lingering summer blooms, the harvested fields, the golden leaves, and the frosty morning dew. I watch the activity of the squirrels preparing there beds for the winter to come. This is the time of year that I think about my intentions that I have yet to complete.

This is a busy time for us makers that are gearing up for a strong finish in our sales for the upcoming holidays.  Many of us are projecting ahead to the shows and exhibits we hope for in the spring.  We are thinking about the festivities the year end brings.  Our To-Do lists can be overwhelming!

I invite you to slow yourself down and appreciate the changing of the seasons.  Take a walk outside to notice the falling leaves. Collect some leaves for a leaf rubbing. Carve a pumpkin.  Decorate your home with autumn squash.  Pick apples and bake a pie.  Add some cinnamon to your coffee or tea.  Read a book outside in the sun under a blanket.

“I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air.”

― Nathaniel Hawthorne

Take some time for yourself as we get ready for what is to come.  Find joy, show gratitude, and get some rest.  It will all get done!

I am rooting for you!

Sincerely,

Patty Muenks
