Ask the Experts: One on One with a Lawyer 

Kansas City Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts provides an opportunity to make an appointment to sit down with a lawyer and discuss your arts-related legal issue for thirty minutes.  Attorneys can assist with general questions related to contracts, copyrights, business formation, employment issues, and more.  You must make an appointment to attend. August 15 at UMKC School of Law Solo & Small Firm Incubator.

Santo Foundation Individual Artist Grants

 

Three artists will be selected to each receive $5,000 from the Santo Foundation. Five additional awards of $1,000. each will also be awarded. Funds are to be used at the artist’s discretion with no follow up material required. Graduate School candidates are eligible as well as emerging, mid-career and mature artists.

Deadline: October 31.

ISE NY Grant Program Fall Grant  Application

This new ISE NY Grant Program is made to help curators and artists all over the world, who are planning to archive an ambitious exhibition wherever it will be.

This is a grant for an exhibition, which is already scheduled. There is NO limit to applicant’s race, nationality, age and the place they currently live in as well as the place where the exhibition occurs.

Deadline: September 30.

Spillways Residency New Orleans

Spillways hosts national and international artists, writers, and cultural organizers that are interested in developing projects within the greater New Orleans region, and whose efforts question, transform, or expand the vibrant visual and literary culture of the area. At least four participants are chosen each year as residents to develop ambitious projects that aim for thoughtful public impact and engagement within the greater New Orleans region.

EMP Museum in Seattle in partnership with SIFF presents the tenth annual Science Fiction + Fantasy Short Film Festival this year. This celebration of artistic excellence brings together cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers, and artists for a showcase of illuminating and unconventional films.

Admitted films are judged by a nationally recognized jury comprised of luminaries in the fields of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Deadline: August 31.

This program awards individual artists and writers with families. Specifically, the applicant must have at least one child under the age of 18. There are no geographic restrictions on our applicants.There will be multiple winners for each award. We seek to reward excellence. Your portfolio will assist us greatly in evaluating your work which may, but need not, refer to your parenting. We’re also interested in hearing what your plans are, and how this award might assist you in attaining your goals.

UrbanSuburban XI: Transition, Experience, Adventure Opening Reception at Epsten Gallery

The Epsten Gallery’s annual benefit exhibition, UrbanSuburban XI: Transition, Experience, Adventure, opening is Sunday, August 30, 2015, with a public reception and artist Meet & Greet from 1-4 p.m. The exhibition will remain open through Sunday, November 1, 2015. Work is for sale by over 60 emerging and established studio artists from the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. The exhibition was curated by April Watson, Curator of Photography at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City.
