This concert’s music features the Anti-Hero- those shady, complex characters who are neither villain nor champion, who are famous- or infamous- for their exploits and flaws. The Springfield Symphony (SSO) has brought in Alexander Markov, the world’s foremost interpreter of Paganini, to play the 2nd Violin Concerto. SSO presents this concert at Juanita K. Hammons Hall on Saturday, January 16 at 7:30pm, with doors opening at 7:00pm. To purchase tickets, click here.

Deadline: February 1, 2016
Presented by the SRAC, the Ozzie Awards are given each year to individuals, organizations, and businesses which have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the arts in our region. Springfield Little Theatre opens the New Year with A Few Good Men by Aaron Sorkin. This Broadway hit about the trial of two Marines for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay sizzles on stage.  The Navy Lawyer, a callow young man more interested in softball games than the case, expects a plea bargain and a cover up of what really happened.  Prodded by a female member of his defense team the lawyer eventually makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the marine code of honor on trial.

Deadline: February 15, 2016
