SRAC WEEKLY UPDATE ON ARTS IN OUR REGION

Don’t miss your opportunity to catch the region’s largest Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 4 as “Fireworks at the Field,” presented by CoxHealth, returns to Hammons Field. General admission tickets can be purchased at a starting price of $9 in advance at the Hammons Field Box Office.

Patrons with a July 4 Springfield Cardinals ticket will also be able to ice skate and enjoy hands-on activities at The Creamery Arts Center and the Mediacom Ice Park from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. The Springfield Regional Arts Council will host face painters, balloon artists, and hands-on art projects for families and kids in The Creamery’s Exhibition Hall and Set Fabrication Studio.

The Springfield Regional Arts Council needs volunteers to help work the hands-on art stations at The Creamery Arts Center. There will be two shifts available: Team Awesome from 1:30pm to 3:30pm and Team Amazing from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Volunteers may choose between one or both shifts and all volunteers will receive pizza and a free ticket to the event. To sign up for a volunteer shift, please email Bri Hopkins, SRAC Event Planner Intern, at bhopkins01@drury.edu

The Springfield Cardinals will host the San Antonio Missions at 5:10pm at Hammons Field followed by a pre-fireworks concert headlined by Sequel Dose. The region’s largest fireworks show will kick-off at Hammons Field around 9:45pm following the Cardinals game. Fans will once again be allowed on the outfield grass after the game.

A Springfield Cardinals ticket will provide admission to all activities at participating venues.  For more information about tickets or details about the event, contact the Hammons Field box office by calling 417-863-2143 or at www.springfieldcardinals.com.

At Sky Gallery

Deadline: July 13

The SRAC and Sky Gallery at the Springfield-Branson National Airport are now accepting submissions for “Glamour, Glitter & Noir: A Celebration of the Silver Screen”, opening August 18 and running until November 9. Submitted pieces should draw inspiration from Old Hollywood. 2D formats are preferred, but some sculptural pieces will be considered.

All artists participating must be current members of SRAC. Submitted pieces must measure at least 18 inches on all sides and each 2D piece should be wired for a hanging system. Wires should be placed no further down that 10 inches from the top of the piece (D-rings are preferred).

To submit your work for consideration, please send 5 jpeg samples of your work to kremington@flyspringfield.com. Submission deadline is end of day on Monday, July 13. Artists will be selected by the SRAC Visual Arts Committee. If work is selected, the committee will ask what else the artist would have available for the exhibition.

For more information on the SkyGallery, please visit  www.flyspringfield.com/art.
