2016 Day Trips are Announced

One of the best ways to recharge your batteries is to escape from the rigors of your hectic life for a while. Whether you are looking for a cool museum to explore or an exciting adventure with your friends, the Cultural Arts Centre has plenty of fun day trips planned in 2016.

Linda Koenig works with the Cultural Arts Centre to provide several guided day trips each year to fun and interesting locations in and around the St. Louis region.  The 2016 Day Trips are sure to pique the interest of many. Most trips include transportation, meals, gratuities, and admission fees–be sure to check when registering.

The first tour this year is scheduled for Feb. 10. Join us as we trace the evolution of stained glass, while visiting St. John Nepomuk, St. Francis de Sales, St. Francis Xavier, St. Marks Episcopal, Hope UCC and St. Gabriel’s.

On March 8, we’ll visit historic hotels, while on April 7 we’ll visit many of St. Louis’s treasures such as Russell Street, Magic Chef Mansion, Stockstrom Mansion, Sweetie Pie’s and the Basilica of St. Louis to name a few.

If you’re into quilts or quilting, or just enjoy viewing the amazing artwork that quilters create, be sure to join us on our annual trip to Paducah, KY for the annual AQS Quilt Show on April 21.

We’ll take a beautiful trip along the Mississippi River to Nauvoo, IL on May 13, visiting a beautifully restored village where Mormons settled after leaving Missouri.

We’ll enjoy some of the most beautiful gardens and galleries St. Louis has to offer on June 22 and on July 14, we’ll see the Musical 1776 at the Lyceum Theatre in Arrow Rock, MO. The whole town of Arrow Rock is on the national registry.

Our Aug. 11 trip is a more serious one as we take a day to visit the St. Louis Holocaust Museum where we’ll hear from a Holocaust survivor. We’ll have lunch at a Kosher deli and tour Temple Israel and visit a cemetery where only Holocaust survivors are buried.

Join us Sept. 16 for a trip east to Highland and Greenville, IL and on Oct. 19, we’ll travel west to Oktoberfest in fabulous Hermann, MO. On Nov. 15, join us for an interesting tour of Westminster College and the Churchill Museum in Fulton, MO.

We’ll “wrap up” the year with a fun trip to Springfield. IL on Dec. 8 where we’ll visit some historic homes decorated for the holidays, the Governor’s mansion and the Dana Thomas House, one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s finest designs.
