development

series exploring art and social change:

Art as Activism – Building Community, Catalyzing Change

Joan Suarez, MA, community organizer

Organizing techniques can be used by any individual or group attempting to create relationships, motivate people, or affect social change.  This interactive workshop will examine the dynamics of power and provide a framework to examine your own values.  Group exercises will give you practice building individual relationships and participating in large group problem solving around complex issues.  Class size is limited to 35.

This program is co-sponsored by the Regional Arts Commission and Washington University’s Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, Gephardt Institute for Public Service, and George Warren Brown School of Social Work.

Who should attend? Artists, community members, arts administrators, and students interested in further developing arts and community partnerships.
