Visiting Artist Report: Melynda Lotven

Did you know that the Best of Missouri Hands has a Visiting Artist Program?  Well we do, and it is a wonderful experience for everyone involved.  Our new Visiting Artist chairperson is Sherry Haney. If you would like more information about the program as we bring juried BOMH artists into the classrooms, please email Sherry at dreamer@DreamerArtStudio.com

Recently juried BOMH mixed media artist, Melynda Lotven visited her daughter Olivia Lotven, who is a teacher at Joplin High School.  Olivia teaches  Special Education (low functioning) class ages 16-21.

Melynda reported back that she had 10 children and 5 adults attend her presentation.  She states….
We made gourd ornaments. I cut gourd pieces and put strings through to hang and the children painted them. We then sealed them up. They each made 2 ornaments. They were so fun and I heard comments from the teacher and her helpers that “this went better than they expected”. Everyone was into it.

Thank you to Melynda and our other artists who take time to share their talents with students who are, our future artists, teachers, collectors, gallery owners, art appreciators, and more.
