Executive Director’s Letter

Happy 2013!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season filled with family and friends. It’s time to embrace a new year and all the challenges and promises it brings!

BOMH is welcoming 2013 with gusto and it’s evident in this issue of INTOUCH. Read on for numerous new opportunities, activities and special announcements. I am very excited about ArtSmart 2013. We have fabulous conference planned, full of opportunities developed with our diverse membership in mind. Whether you are interested in learning more about gallery exhibitions, how to prepare for festivals or shows, or have some questions about your legal rights as an artist,  you will find this conference relevant to your needs. In addition to the break out sessions during the day, we have planned some wonderful opportunities for attendees to interact and enjoy the arts in the fabulously creative community of Springfield.

A special thank you to the organizations who are hosting special conference activities – Hue and Marla Parnell, Thursday night art demos and reception at the Creamery Arts Center; Eunace Wallar, Saturday evening reception at Waverly House Gifts and Gallery; and the members of Fresh Gallery for hosting a reception for conference attendees.  Another special thank you to Deby Gilley, BOMH juried member and member of MAEA and Alicia Farris, juried member of BOMH and Fresh Gallery for helping to facilitate “Fresh Art” a juried exhibit of BOMH general and juried membership at Fresh Gallery in downtown Springfield. You will find details and call for enty in the newsletter.

There is a limited amount of funding available to provide conference registration (lodging not included) for artists exhibiting need. Please email director@bestofmissourihands.org to request more information or an application.

I am looking forward to 2013 and hope to see you soon at one of the regional meetings, activities or exhibits we have planned around the state!

Martha Greer, Executive Director
