Former Art House Curator Accepts Prestigious Commission
Local artist and Art House Founding Member, Brian Mahieu, has recently accepted a commission to paint murals in a 150,000 square foot museum-type attraction near St. Louis Arch Park. Due to the all-encompassing nature of this commission, effective July 1, Brian resigned his position as Curator-Director of the Art House, though he will still serve on the Board in an advisory role. “Brian has played a critical role in the development and success of Art House. His vision, dedication and skill will be sorely missed, but he’s marked a great path for us to follow,” shared Tom Riley, Art House Board President.
Brian’s commission has been in the planning phase for 11 years, and is an honor and wonderful opportunity. After finishing, Brian plans to return to Fulton and begin painting for his last exhibit of Missouri landscape paintings which will open at Orr Street Galleries in May/June of 2016. After that exhibit, he and his husband, Tom Harris, plan to move to the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State to fulfill a lifelong dream, “It has been wonderful knowing and working with all of you, and I will look forward to seeing what the future holds for Art House and Fulton.” |
