With two Red Light Nights and a fantastic Trick-Art-Treat, we had a wonderful October here in Southeast Missouri! There is plenty more to look forward to during our last two months of the year, for now – mark your calendars for the following Arts Dates to Save in November! A comprehensive listing of November arts events in Southeast Missouri is available at on our website Events Calendar>

10th Annual Empty Bowls Event
Sunday, November 1st from Noon – 2:00 pm
At the Salvation Army Worship & Community Center at
701 Good Hope Street
A community-wide event to increase awareness of hunger issues in the Cape Girardeau area. Tickets for the event are $12, which can be purchased at the door, and participants receive a soup meal and a handmade pottery bowl of their choice. All proceeds benefit the Salvation Army. This year approximately 600 bowls will be available to purchase and are made entirely by local potters and painted by community members and volunteers.

Bowls will also be available during the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri’s 45th Annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Extravaganza.

The Arts Council is pleased to welcome back internationally renowned artist Gary Lucy for a display of original pieces and high-quality prints of his original artwork. Lucy’s representational pieces focus on capturing the beauty of regional landscapes, as well as depictions of important scenes throughout the history of the Mississippi River. Lucy is a native of Caruthersville, MO and graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. The artist will be present during the reception.

Planning to attend the First Friday with the Arts this November? We are trying out a Selfie Scavenger Hunt, with every #FFSELFIE submitted entered into the drawing for a $100 gift certificate for use at participating First Friday galleries! The lucky winner will get to support local artists and buy a gift for a loved one (or themselves – we won’t judge)! Join the Facebook Event>

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is excited to announce the 45th Annual Arts and Crafts Extravaganza, at the Osage and Show Me Centers in Cape Girardeau!

Over 300 high-quality crafters and artisans will attend, including many of the finest from across the Midwest. Their booths contain beautiful handmade items perfect for holiday gift-giving and decorating!

Each booth must sell ONLY handmade items and must pass an inspection to participate in the Extravaganza. Judges will also name one booth from each location “Best of Show” for the 2015 fair, the recipients of which will receive free booth rental in 2016.

Join the Facebook Event to see links and sneak peeks of the 45th Extravaganza vendors!

Admission for the event is $5.00 for a wristband that is good on both days.

Saturday, November 21st: 10 am – 5 pm

Volunteers who assist us with wrist-banding guests at the Osage Centre on Saturday from 9 am – 2 pm during the 45th Extravaganza will get into the Fair for FREE afterwards!
