“With These Missouri Hands” Gallery Show Ends

 

The Closing Reception on August 28th marked the end of “With These Missouri Hands”, a gallery show featuring 35 pieces of artwork from 14 Missouri artists. The show was a collaboration between The Best of Missouri Hands and the St Charles County Arts Council and was held in the Lillian Yahn Gallery in O’fallon Missouri.

 

Awards of Excellence went to the following artists:

1st Place- Sandy Kolde, We’ve Got The Blues

2nd Place- Lee Richards, Harmony by Design

3rd Place- Greg Kluempers, Jewel Box

Serena Boschert received Honorable Mention for Nature’s Bounty

 

Bruce Howard, President of the St. Charles County Arts Council, created four delightful sunflower metal sculptures for the award recipients.

 

Darla Zook from Garden City in Western Missouri exhibited several of her exquisite watercolors, featuring landscapes of Western Missouri and Eastern Kansas. Prolific painter Dave Carter from Cape Girardeau exhibited several large pieces, “Shadows: Banyan Tree” and a large triptych. Two artists from Columbia Missouri also had work in the show, Peggy King with her vibrant glass art and Melynda Lotven with her unique gourd artwork. Jewelry artist Lee Richards from Union Missouri exhibited her necklace “Harmony by Design”.

 

Additional artists from the St Louis area are Donna Knox, Larry Page, Greg Kluempers, Joyce Rothermich, Gail & Don Crozier, Sandy Kolde, Robert Chapman, and Serena Boschert. A wide variety of artistic mediums were in the show including Photography, Jewelry, Glass, Metal, Ceramics, Painting, Fiber, and Mixed Media.

 

“With These Missouri Hands” was developed by The Best of Missouri Hands, and St. Charles County Arts Council to provide a forum to demonstrate the creativity and diversity of the artists and artisans of Missouri and the Midwest region. Both non-profit organizations receive financial assistance from the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency. Juror for the show was Bruce Howard, glass artist and President of the St. Charles County Arts Council. Thanks to Bruce and to Gale and Ken Niswonger and the rest of the St Charles County Arts Council for providing such a lovely gallery space and for all of their assistance.
