The winter days are numbered and we are just beginning to see the signs of spring emerging. What a perfect time to give our creativity a boost by attending the annual BOMH Membership Meeting & Professional Development Workshop on March 25th! The meeting will take place in Gallery 210 on the UMSL Campus.

This exciting event will offer two enriching Professional Development workshops. The morning session will include a presentation by Roseann Weiss, Director of the Community & Public Arts Department at the Regional Arts Commission (RAC), and a presentation by Carleen Johns, BOMH Juried Artist. Roseann and Carleen will share their invaluable tips on grant writing. We will also welcome an afternoon presentation by Cindy Lerick, Executive Director and President of Cultural Festivals. Cindy will speak on the changing landscape of art shows and she will share her tips on how to get accepted into art shows.

Your Best of Missouri Hands Board of Directors will present the 2017 Professional Development Grant to one outstanding BOMH Juried Member during the business portion of the meeting as well as welcome several new Juried Members. This is one meeting that you won’t want to miss!

I’m happy to announce that our next big conference will be held on April 13-14, 2018 in Columbia, Missouri! Mark your calendar now for ArtSmart 2.0. This conference will include the Friday Night Frolics that you know and love as well as workshops, camaraderie and great food. We are bringing back all of the things that you love about your BOMH conference. Please look for more details as well as news about an exciting conference contest in the months to come.

As always, I’m looking forward to meeting the many BOMH Juried Members and general members as the weather warms and the 2017 shows and festivals kick-off. This new year is off to a great start as we continue in our mission to showcase Missouri’s talented artists and artisans!

Angela Walleman, President
