CALL FOR NARRATIVE ARTWORK FOR STORYTELLING EXHIBITION AT THE FOUNDRY ART CENTRE

St. Charles, MO – Narrative art appears throughout the history of humanity as a catalog of experiences across all cultures. Whether implied or spelled out, many artworks have epic tales to tell despite the limited imagery they are allowed. While literary artists have the luxury of inexhaustible words to describe a tale, visual artists rely on their imagination to successfully communicate a narrative and ignite another's imagination. Open to all media, Tell Me A Story highlights the story-telling, narrative abilities of artwork. Jason Bly, juror for the exhibition, is a professor at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and an accomplished trompe l’oiel oil painter. All entries are due by Monday, April 24, 2017. Tell Me A Story will open on Friday, June 16, 2017 with an opening reception from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A gallery talk will be given prior to the reception at 5:30pm. Three awards will be given at the opening reception, two $200 juror’s choice awards and a $500 or Going Solo exhibition juror’s choice award. This exhibition closes on Friday, July 28, 2017. Calls for entry are available online at foundryartcentre.org or at the Foundry Art Centre, located at 520 North Main Center in St. Charles, Missouri.
