Executive Director’s Letter July 2014

Where does the time go? I love this time of year and now that it’s July and the weather is getting warmer and warmer, I am still battling the ”being outside versus being inside” work struggle. As I work, I am already planning events for the fall and winter time frame. It’s crazy but plans are well under way for ARTstravaganza! And for ArtSmart 2015. It’s an exciting time here at the Best of Missouri Hands, we have new juried members, new board members and two great events that are fast approaching.

You may have seen the survey for your input on ArtSmart and I hope you took the time to take it. Your input is valuable and we are here to serve you; so knowing what type of a program you want, speaker topics are of interest and activities desired, helps us plan a great event and one that is well attended and beneficial to you our members.

As many of you heard at this last ArtSmart, we are trying to implement regional activities which can include exhibits, festivals, networking and/or professional development. If this is something that interests you please contact me with ideas. As I mentioned earlier, your input is valuable, this is your organization and we need to know how to better serve you.

Every other month I ask you for your good news and I am overwhelmed at how many great things are happening to the organization. Many of you have work shown internationally, are teaching, have won prestigious awards and are hitting the festival circuits hard. I am constantly amazed at the level of talent we have in the organization. That was apparent at Art in the Park, a fabulous festival put on by our corporate sponsor the Columbia Art League. Of the 110 artist, we had 27 BOMH artist! I want to congratulate all of you on your accomplishments and I hope your summer is successful!
