Welcome to New Board Members
We would like to welcome the following new board members who were elected by the members of Best of Missouri Hands:
Loren Woodard of Sunrise Beach is a BOMH juried member in wood and is a commercial real estate appraiser. He has been a woodcarver 23 years and was a guest carver at Silver Dollar City for 15 years. Loren has been teaching woodcarving for the past 10 years and is a board member and seminar director for Lake of the Ozarks Woodcarving Club.
Lanie Frick has been a BOMH juried member in painting since 2006. She lives in Licking Missouri and prefers acrylics as a medium. As a juried member of Women Artists of the West, her work primarily features horses and western themes but she has also explored landscapes as well as more abstract subject matter. Since starting Lanie Frick Graphics in 1984, she has also focused on the business aspects of her artwork. Lanie is also the author of three books with her approach to mixing brilliant clear colors and color personalities.
Ellen Heislen of Fulton is a retired physician assistant from the St Louis area. She is currently taking art classes in Fulton and in Columbia, and is very involved with Art House and a volunteer at Columbia Art League.
Murielle Gaither has been the Executive Director of the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau since 2011. She is also Vice President of the Around Town Group in Cape Girardeau and has been involved with the arts in a number of capacities since graduating Vanderbilt University in 2011.
Angela Fowle of O’Fallon has been Executive Director of the Foundry Art Centre since 2013 and was Education Manager & Exhibitions Manager prior to that. Angela is a graduate of Lindenwood University and the Lindenwood Honors College in St. Charles. A long-time active member of the St. Louis metro area’s arts community, Fowle has also served as the Regional Coordinator for the national “Poetry Out Loud” Recitation Contest.
Joyce Rosen of St Louis, our only returning board member, is starting her second 3 year term. Joyce has over twenty-five years experience in professional management and administration, with both for-profit and not-for-profit corporations. She is founder & current publisher of “The Arts Live”. Joyce is also founder (1990), Board Member (1997 to 2003) and Executive Director (2003 to 2010) of The Foundry Art Centre in St Charles. She also served as Executive Director of the following fine arts festivals: An Art Affair (1980 to 2003), Midwest Salute to the Masters (1987 to 1991), and Mosaics Missouri Festival of the Arts (1992 to 2010)
Board members will begin their three year terms at the July 2014 board meeting. At that meeting, the board of directors will also elect its officers for the next fiscal year. Officers serve one year terms. This procedure puts BOMH into compliance with its bylaws, and with standard 501c3 board guidelines.
