Lidded Boxes by Juried BOMH Artist Dan Burleson

Lidded boxes 2” to 3” diameter and 2 1/2” to 4” tall with threaded lids.  They are all made from hard maple I get from my friend Craig Norsen at U-Pick Hardwood Lumber http://www.upickhardwoodlumber.com/.  I turned the inside of top and bottom first and textured with different tools then airbrushed using wood dyes, some with Pearl Ex powders mixed in.  I then cut the male and female threads using a threading jig I got from Craig Lapiana at Chef Ware Kits.  It is a very good thread cutting jig that works great.  If you are interested in one check out their website at  http://chefwarekits.com/.  The next step I cut the beads on the outside and burn the vertical lines in preparation for the basket illusion patterns.  I design simple patterns that will fit evenly and dye using Copic and Faber Castell markers.  The final step is to clean up the bottom and put a finish on them.
Thank you
