RETAILER EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR – JEAN MCMULLEN
The St. Charles Economic Development Center has chosen juried Best of Missouri Hands artist, Jean McMullen to be the Retail Employer of the Year! The Chamber of Commerce will hold a luncheon on May 8, where Jean will receive her award.

I wanted to let you know about a gallery on Main street St. Charles that has been making an impact on the St. Charles area and Greater St. Louis community, Missouri Artists on Main. It was just announced that the owner, Jean McMullen, will be awarded Retail Employer of the Year by the St. Charles Economic Development Center. The Chamber of Commerce will give her the award at a luncheon on May 8th.
Please allow me to briefly give you a little insight into the gallery. I am sure your readers will be interested in learning about this wonderful place.
The Missouri Artist’s on Main gallery (MAOM) has been on Main street St. Charles for about three years and in that short time has seen several businesses come and go around them, but the gallery has grown and is making an impact on the community. MAOM is the dream of Jean McMullen of St. Charles who has poured her heart and soul into the business and, with the help of many artist friends and her intrepid husband, has created a successful art gallery featuring Missouri artists. MAOM has been seeing visitors from around the Greater St. Louis area returning to the St. Charles Main street just to visit the gallery to see and purchase unique, finely crafted, award winning artwork.
The gallery recently expanded from a second floor space to two levels full of fine art. The ground floor went through a major over-haul and is now a gorgeous exhibition space. MAOM is also located on one of the few Main street properties with a lawn which is also in the process of being transformed by the St. Charles Master Gardeners into a tranquil, beautiful, inviting space that is environmentally friendly. The grand re-opening is coming up the weekend of April 25th and 26th with artist demonstrations and raffles of artwork planned.
In addition to becoming a destination for high end fine art the gallery also gives back to the community. Each Christmas season the gallery raises money through various sales and promotions to donate to worthy causes in the area. Each year a different organization has received the substantial gift from the generosity of our community citizens and the hard work of Jean and the artists at the gallery.
The citizens of St. Charles are also having their horizons expanded through many art classes and workshops offered by the gallery. The classes are designed to teach and grow the individuals and help them reach their full potential. Several students have gone on to become award winning artists themselves.
