Acrylic mediums come in many variations and new ones are coming onto the market all the time. For an acrylic painter this can be mind-boggling, not to mention expensive, just to keep up and learn how to use the dozens of mediums available. This one day workshop will give you the opportunity to experiment with all the fun mediums, such as Crackle, Lava Rock, Ceramic Stucco, Blended Fibers and Resin Sand.
Janice Schoultz Mudd, a mixed media painting and collage artist whose artwork is the result of continual experimentation will conduct this one day, hands-on workshop that will enhance your working knowledge of a wide range of acrylic mediums.
The morning session will focus on active demonstrations and hands-on experimentation of each medium’s properties. You will learn firsthand, the kinds of effects each medium can make on your canvas. You will also have an opportunity to create demo sheets for yourself to take home for future reference. As you make these sheets, you will be able to experiment with ways to apply the mediums that produce differing effects.
In the afternoon we will make up maybe a couple of boards where we build the different textures and paint on top on one another to see what kind of effects we can come up with.
