Hospitals Embrace the Healing Balm of Visual Art Go into any hospital, medical center, or doctor’s office these days, and you are likely to see works of art. Healthcare institutions are increasingly finding that visual art is essential for a healing environment. Several Missouri hospitals are especially strong on having extensive displays of art for the benefit of their patients, visitors, staff, and entire community. On our website, we talk with hospital staff and many artists whose work is featured about how they’re bringing beauty and comfort where sorely needed – making art an integral part of healing and hope.Hospitals Embrace the Healing Balm of Visual Art was created in July 2015 for the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency and division of the Department of Economic Development. The Missouri Arts Council provides grants to nonprofit organizations that meet our strategic goals of increasing participation in the arts in Missouri, growing Missouri’s economy using the arts, and strengthening Missouri education through the arts.
