SRAC WEEKLY UPDATE ON ARTS IN OUR REGION

Scheduled October 17-18, The Farmers Park Art Show will be the first curated art show at Farmers Park. This family-friendly event, hosted by Farmers Park and the Artists Alliance of the Ozarks, will showcase award-winning, visual artists from the Ozarks region. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact in a fun, relaxed atmosphere, making art approachable and allowing buyers to experience “face time” with a selection of artists chosen for their originality, creativity, technique, and craftsmanship. Artwork mediums include painting, ceramics, photography, furniture, metal and wood sculpture, jewelry, printmaking, and stained glass.
The Farmers Park Art Show hours are 9:00am-5:00pm on Saturday, October 17, and 10:00am-4:00pm on Sunday, October 18. On Saturday, attendees will have the opportunity to also enjoy the concurrent Farmers Market of the Ozarks from 9:00am-1:00pm. On Sunday, Aviary Café will host an outdoor brunch and beer garden with live music from Smokey Folk from 11:00am-2:00pm. This Art Show is free and open to the public.

Enjoy an evening of wine and painting with local artist Stephanie Cramer. Stephanie will walk participants through the process of creating a unique work of mixed media art. Everyone’s piece will turn out differently. Participants will work very quickly leaving little time to worry about the process of creating. Zero painting experience is needed.
Please RSVP by Friday, October 16 to the SRAC at 417-862-2787. Availability is very limited. Cost is $75 per person, which includes supplies and wine.
This event is a fundraiser to help support the SRAC, whose mission is to transform the lives and enrich the community through the arts.

Nourish: From the Palette to the Palate
Deadline: November 2-3
The SRAC is pleased to announce the newest exhibition, “Nourish: From the Palette to the Palate.” The exhibit invites artists to draw inspiration from all things edible, drinkable, or cuisine- and cooking-related and to submit their palate-pleasing work in any medium. The exhibit will open with a free, public reception during First Friday Art Walk, November 6 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and will remain on display through Friday, November 27.
Work must be delivered to The Creamery on Monday or Tuesday, November 2 or 3 between 9:00am and 5:00pm. There is no limit to the number of pieces an artist may submit. All work must be wired, ready to hang, and no larger than 40 inches in any dimension. Sawtooth hangers are not accepted. Jewelry should be mounted in hanging shadowboxes. Please contact the SRAC before Friday, October 30 to make display arrangements for three-dimensional pieces. The SRAC receives a 25% commission on any work sold.

The Letter Project
Deadline: Mailed by November 6
The Letter Project, led by Missouri Citizens for the Arts (MCA), is a way for citizens to let Missouri’s Governor Jay Nixon know that they care about the arts. MCA hopes to deliver 500 letters to Governor Nixon, asking for budget funding of the arts in our state. Being an arts advocate means communicating that you believe the arts are important to your representatives and how to best support the cause.
Supply the attached form letter to any friends, family, members, or attendees at events. Anyone and everyone who supports the arts is welcome to participate.

MCA will collect all letters and deliver them in person to Governor Nixon.
